Auto Glass Tips for This Winter
It seems to always come down to time. You never have enough time to worry about scraping your car off. If you don’t you are at an increased risk of a car accident. You need to make sure that you plan ahead and get up early when there is going to be subzero temperatures and snow or sleet.
Keep Your Windshield Clear
If you are not fortunate enough to have a garage you can try parking under a covered area to reduce snow and sleet on your windshield. You can also use a tarp or window covers to make your life a whole lot easier this winter. If you don’t have a tarp, some people use cardboard to put over their windshield and plastic bags over their windshield wipers. Check out our FAQ page to find more useful information.
Tips From Auto Glass Pros
If you do not have a plastic scraper with a soft brush you can use an old credit card or a strong piece of plastic to scrape off the ice on your windshield. If your glass is too cold, it means it is under stress. Heating it up too quickly will cause even more stress and can lead to cracks. Leave the fan on low for about 5 minutes to allow a gradual heat throughout your car.
It is essential to make sure that your windshield wipers are clear of ice and that you have windshield wiper fluid to ensure that you can see clearly before driving. Make sure that your car has the right amount of antifreeze in your engine. The mixture should be about 50% antifreeze and 50% water. These tips from the professionals should keep you safe this winter. Be sure to get your windshield repaired or replaced before the winter hits us to ensure your safety.
